Feeling apart of the class

 Alexandra Slater

Sunday, September 27th

Thursday was another awesome day in the class. I really enjoy and love going to Monee. Each time I come to observe I feel more comfortable and closer with my MT and students. My teacher had me really jump in and take over on Thursday. Once again, I was able to do the morning lessons. I feel this time I had way better classroom management skills. I ensured that students raised their hands to answer questions and wait to be called on. I also have all the students name down pat. I was also able to read them a book during read aloud which went fantastic. All students were engaged and listening to me when I read the book. After we read the book, I did my student inventory take. I feel it was good to put the student inventory after the read aloud because for the read aloud i choose a book that i enjoyed reading. I explained to the students why I choose that book which once again, related to the inventory they were completing.

Lastly, the one thing I need to work on is balancing working with multiple students at once. For math, I had 5 students at a time working on a math project and it was defintely hard trying to answer and help all of them on the project. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was relieved though when I talked to my MT at the end of the day and she let me know that the project we worked on was too challenging for them. Regardless, I need to work on meeting the needs of each and every student.
