It is amazing how quickly the day goes by.
I'm not being over enthusiastic when I say this but, I really look forward to seeing these students every week. My MT, as I said last week, runs a tight ship and her kids are very mannerly and sweet.
I can see that she set the ground rules and the expectations for her class standards very early and her students, even though they are not prefect, adhere to those rules and expectations.
Yesterday, a lot of students were being called out of the classroom for assessments, it was like a revolving door of people going in and out of the classroom. My MT was a bit frustrated but, she never let it show in the classroom during her lessons. I think that is one of the most important things that I would need to model in my class is to make sure that I'm able to adapt to whatever situations arise in class.
I usually sit in the back of the class and walk up and down the aisles of the classroom as the students are doing their work to help guide them to the correct page or to make sure that they understand the direction given by the teacher. There is a student female student that I'm very concerned about because I don't feel that she is getting the one on one that she needs to benefit in the classroom. I spent most of my time with her to make sure that she is filling out information correctly and that she is writing her numbers and words properly. I have thought about buying her a penmanship book or printing out practice papers for her but, I'm unsure if that would be overstepping my bounds.
On a side note, the school was closed for two days this week because of the heat. My MT has several fans in her room but a lot of the students were complaining about the heat, I even gave a couple of my students a personal fan that they at their desk. I think that is such a unnecessary distraction and I'm looking forward to cooler weather :)
