Hi Everyone!
This week was my week off from teaching, I will be teaching my Social Studies lesson next week. I am excited for this lesson, I made an activity that I think the students will really like. My topic is on maps and at first I had a hard time simplifying and making sure it is developmentally appropriate. This will be an introduction to maps for the students so I am excited to see what they take away from the lesson. I was also able to meet with my teacher after school to get some more tips and collaborate on ideas. As far as the classroom goes, the students are learning about adjectives, and I was able to teach the lesson to one of the groups. I would describe an animal that they had to guess and they were to draw what animal they believed it was based on my descriptions. We also reviewed subject and predicates with a worksheet and reviewed a lifecycle of a plant on kahoot.
Since the weather is getting cold the students are expected to have more indoor recess. My MT is sending a note out to the parents to see if they are able to donate any games. I have extra games at home that I don't use anymore that I plan on donating. My goal for next week is to make sure I have everything prepared for my lesson and make sure that I give myself time to practice it a few times before I teach. I feel that when the practice and work is put into the lesson plan it makes the teaching flow smoothly and comes out naturally. Another goal I have is to observe the math teacher that the students rotate to, this way I can get ideas and brainstorm for my math lesson. I hope everyone is doing great, we are halfway there! 😊
