My very first lesson plan. I was a nervous wreck at the time. I'm not sure if it was because it was my first time presenting a lesson plan or because it was my first time being watched. But I have to say that once I started talking and working on the lesson plan, my anxieties calmed down and everything went lot more smoothly. I discovered a great deal about my own talents and weaknesses. I believe that one of my strengths is that I have taken on the kids and have a deeper knowledge of their requirements in order for them to succeed. I also believe that watching how my MT embraces and listens to them has brought me closer to them, and they are always surprised when I call them by their first names. My weaknesses would be the fact that I felt so anxious before giving a presentation that it overtook my enthusiasm for teaching. Throughout my class, I gained a better grasp of the modifications I need to make to make it simpler for the kids to follow. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that taught me a lot. I came away with a long list of things I need to improve in my next lesson plan.
My goal for next week is to have more small group time with the students and to find more ways to help those behind.
P.S: My students said I did a good job and they celebrated me by doing the chicken wing dance.
