This was another great week at my school. I really do enjoy being around these students. I feel like I am learning so much from them and I enjoy helping them learn and grow each week. I have really started making connections with some students and I can tell they're feeling more and more comfortable around me. They have started coming to me for help with things instead of their teacher. I like that I am able to not only help the students but really help out my MT too.
My MT has begun to give me more work each day and I'm so glad. This week my MT had me create student data folders that we will be adding to throughout the semester for their parents. I was able to do another read aloud and I can tell the students really enjoyed it. It was a story about a bully but the kids that were being bullied were taught to have courage and stand up to the bully. I especially liked this read aloud because I had fun with making different voices for each character. Seeing the kids faces during the read aloud was fun to see. I saw kids smiling and laughing during certain parts of the book. At the end I did an activity with them and they seemed to really be into it.
This week I made sure to really make myself useful instead of waiting for my MT to give me the go ahead on what I should do in the classroom. I made myself available to the students as I walked around the room and encouraged them to keep working. I feel that my MT is becoming more comfortable with me in the classroom because she leaves every now and then for bathrooms breaks or what have you. I make sure to keep the students on task even when the teacher isn't in the room. I just feel like this is all preparing me for when I have to teach my own lessons.
