Thursday was a tough day for me personally because I got my second covid shot late Wednesday afternoon. I had horrid side effects Thursday, but I still had to push on in class on Thursday. That being said, it made me realize no matter what a teacher is dealing with personally or physically they have to put on a brave, happy face and be there fully with their students. All I wanted to do was lay my head down on the table and sleep but I continued to walk around the class, answer students questions, and teach when my teacher wanted me too. My teacher allowed me to do the morning lessons, read aloud, phonics, and some math. Every week my teacher continues to give me more tasks in the class and get more involved which I really appreciate. I would say I am teaching on my own 40% of the day. I feel this is really preparing me for student teaching in the spring.
Last post, I had mentioned I was not doing well with classroom management skills while teaching. I ensured to keep that in the back of my head on Thursday. While teaching I made sure to call out students who were not paying attention, pausing until students were focused, and not allowing students to get up or use the bathroom unless it was an emergency. We worked A LOT on math on Thursday which isn't my favorite subject. With that being said, my teachers class is forcing me to get comfortable teaching and investing time into it. Overall, I'm excited for next week because I will be feeling better and more clear head space to take on the day!
