My MT was absent today and there was a permanent sub. I was impress by the way the sub managed to handle the students because the students do not listen. The sub waited to see when the students were able to be quiet so she can start the lesson. The sub thought that the students were not acting appropriately because of the MT not being in today but this happens every time I come in Thursdays. I liked how the sub took time off of their recess time and had them put everything inside their desk along with having them to wait more time in a quiet zone. The sub was surprised by the students behavior.
I taught my math lesson on multiplication arrays/grouping. I thought my lesson went well but the only thing that did not go as planned was the AS activity. The students were suppose to get into 2 groups of 9 and they were not able to do it in a quiet zone and they were not focuses. The main reason for group work was to give them an opportunity to get up from their seats before a lesson. I also wanted them to listen and count with me to make sure that we all went into the correct groups. Overall, the students participated and understood the two strategies that we can do to solve a multiplication equation.
