Social Studies Lesson!

 Week 6

By: Alejandra Govea

The students were so excited to see me this week. I still receive hugs and "I miss you" and it feels good to know that I was missed. I taught my social studies lesson plan and I was not nervous to teach. I think I was nervous about the students behavior. The students have a hard time to listen and stop talking when someone is talking. I was nervous that the students wouldn't want to participate in my lesson. I had a student throw a tantrum during my lesson. Yes... a third grader throwing a tantrum on the floor. My MT was able to take him out the hallway when I was teaching to calm him. I also had some students talk over me while I was talking. Overall, the students learned the three different types of communities and the characteristics for each community. The students were able to work independently by completing their activity sheet. I hope the students get the hang of listening when I am teaching. The classroom management needs to improve especially in a 3rd grade classroom.

I also let the students know that they need to call me Miss Govea because it is not professional to be calling me Miss Alex. The students weren't able to pronounce my last name correctly so I thought Alex would have been okay. I let the students know that my name is important just like theirs when I pronounce their name. I need to remind them to call me Miss Govea when they say Miss Alex.
