Week 8 by Aranis Samra

What a week, my second time teaching!! My subject was science and my lesson was on Surface Tension, I had the students use these materials in the picture to experiment. I felt more confident in my content and even my lesson plan this time, but I think I was mistaken. I began giving my science lesson and discovered that I had downloaded an incomplete PowerPoint, which made me quite nervous, and things went downhill from there. I didn't divert the children's attention to another activity until the situation was resolved, which would have been the ideal thing to do. But there were still so many other errors at that moment. I understand that we learn from our mistakes, but this one slapped me hard in the face. I thought I'd gotten over my fear of giving presentations and was finally getting the hang of things, but I was far from it. So I'll have to stay on my toes. I seem to do better under pressure. Also triple check your technology and what your using to present that's my biggest regret.

In terms of the students, they are extremely kind and understanding. They expressed their happiness with the experiment, which made me happy to know they were involved. I need to concentrate on perfecting my lesson plan writing skills and focusing more on my students rather than the fact that I am being observed. These last few classes have reminded me of how much I want to do this, and being in person has reminded me of why I wanted to teach in the first place. The satisfaction and love received from the students is something hard to describe, it really warmed my heart.
